March Point Invasive Removal- Volunteers Needed

December 2, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

March Point Conservation Area

Please join us to remove blackberry from the forest at March Point Conservation Area. This is a great way to explore a property that is not open to the public because it hosts one of the largest heron rookeries on the west coast. We will remove the invasive blackberry to provide more space for native species to thrive. If time allows, we will also maintain wildlife camera equipment. Must be 16 years old or older to volunteer.

What to expect: Getting to the work area involves walking approximately .25 miles from the parking area and crossing through a potentially active industrial site. Please be aware of the staff and equipment when passing through. The walk into the heronry is steep, there’s some support rope to hold onto and stairs to help. The work will be challenging and require bushwhacking and hiking through uneven terrain.

Supplies to bring: Long sleeved shirt and pants, warm layers, rain gear, sturdy footwear, water for the day, snacks and lunch, and a backpack/bag to keep your personal belongings in during the work day.

Must RSVP to come to event.
