Dear Anacortes Wine Lovers,
It is with a heavy heart that we share some disappointing news. The Anacortes Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel ‘Anacortes UNCORKED Wine & Food Experience’ for 2024.
As many of you know, the Transit Shed Event Center, operated by the Port of Anacortes, has been the venue for the Anacortes Wine Festival for 12 years. This annual event significantly contributes approximately $80,000 to the local economy each year. However, with the Port scheduled to return this space to maritime uses, it will no longer be an event venue after December 31, 2023.
In light of this, there has been an all-hands-on deck effort to locate a suitable site for ours and other community events. Although there are a small number of possible future options, a decision is still pending by the City’s LTAC committee and subsequent City Council approval, but this is not expected until mid-January.
Due to the nature of this event and the extensive time required for planning, along with the current uncertainties, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the 2024 UNCORKED event with hopes of getting this amazing event back on the calendar in 2025.
Please know that this decision was not made lightly, and the Board of Directors and staff of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce share in the disappointment that many of you feel as we make this difficult decision. Nevertheless, we remain committed to delivering a stellar wine & food experience, and as soon as an appropriate event space is available, we will announce the dates for UNCORKED 2025.
