Friends of the Forest first formed in 1987 as a group of community advocates sought to end revenue logging in the ACFL. With a long history of logging and regrowth in the ACFL, it’s a wonder that a few trees escaped the blade and remained to grow old. We’ll wander among our wooden elders on a loop in the Heart Lake corridor and learn more about how forests recover from disruption and the role old growth trees play in a forest ecosystem.
