Anacortes invites visitors to Shop, Play, Eat, Stay, for the Holidays! With dozens of community activities throughout the season there is something for everyone. This season can be a magical time to visit, with the town lit up for the winter nights, great rates on local hotels and bed & breakfasts, and warm inviting restaurants to welcome you in from your brisk hikes at local parks or strolls down main street.
Starting the first Saturday in December, guests can enjoy old fashion horse-drawn trolley rides around the historic downtown every Saturday from noon to 4pm. The town will be aglow with cheery lights and colorful window displays to explore. Shoppers can enter to win prizes from local retailers during the Keep the Cheer Here promotion that runs from the Monday of Thanksgiving through to Christmas Eve. The weekend of December 7th will ring in the Christmas season with the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday night, followed by the downtown holiday art walk and holiday parade on Saturday.
The second weekend in December transforms the 220 acres Washington Park into a Winter Wonderland Walk, free for the public to enjoy. Local service groups, clubs, businesses and families sign up to decorate campsites with elaborate displays, festive lights and holiday cheer. Hot cocoa, s’mores and treats can be found throughout the event. Live entertainment fills the evening and visitors are encouraged to join in the caroling. Happy Holidays to all!
