Before the doors open to the Anacortes Vintage Market’s fall show and sale taking place Oct. 18-19 on the pier at the city’s expansive Port Transit Shed, ticket-holders should know they’ll be stepping into a carefully curated wonderland.
“This is a vintage market and merchandise needs to fall under this category,” organizers say of those who apply to the biannual juried event. Not only do vendors need to have an active business license, but they also need to be willing to provide product information and photographs from their brick-and-mortar stores, shows or past markets they’ve participated in.
“We are not a garage sale or tables with stuff for sale type of flea market,” they say. “Handmade and handcrafted items must fall under the ‘vintage style’ category. Upcycled, repurposed and creative displays are required and showmanship is a must. This is a beautifully curated show and vendors pour their heart and soul into bringing their best merchandise and display showmanship to our guests.”
For patrons searching for fall, holiday or everyday home decor, antiques, garden goods, repurposed or handcrafted products, jewelry, clothing, and furniture, rest assured what you’ll find upon entering the Evergreens and Icicles: Vintage and Gift Show event will be unique, high-quality and ready to take home for yourself or to wrap for an early start to the holiday season.
This is the seventh event offered by Sassy Frass Co. owner Stacy Doyle, who started her journey as a successful store owner and a vendor in the former Island Chicks Vintage Market. When that closed shop, she stepped in to fill the void. In doing so, Doyle created one of the most successful shows of its kind in the state.
The Anacortes Vintage Market’s popularity is due in part to the entities chosen to participate in the festivities. Among those who join Sassy Frass Co. in the twice-yearly markets are businesses such as Alley Cat Antiques, Backroads Vintage, Camano Chic, Chick-d-Dee, Country Junkin’ Girl, D Avenue Nursery, Dahlia’s Vintage Marketplace, Grace Cottage, Hollywood Dumpster Chic, Le Vintage Finds, Origami Owl, Phoebe’s Keen Junk, Retreat Interiors, Rosa Bellas Collectibles, San Simeon Interiors, Secrets in the Attic, the Shed, Touch of Whimsey, Vagabond, and more.
For those eager to suss out their quality merchandise, procure tickets ASAP to a VIP event taking place from 6pm-9pm Fri. Oct. 18 at the picturesque pier. Not only will you get a head start on the action, but you’ll also enjoy a complimentary beverage and entry to the following day’s market.
Because one of the dictates of participating vendors is to bring a wide selection of items, there will be plenty of restocking between Friday night and Saturday morning—meaning both quality and quantity are a part of the weekend’s happenings continuing from 9am-4pm Sat., Oct. 19.
“Stroll through the aisles of vintage decor, junk salvation, repurposed craftsmanship, and artisan goods and find a treasure to take home,” Doyle says. “This vintage market is sure to make your smile as you look down to see the sea between the heavy timber planks of the pier and breathe in the salty air. We hope you join us!”
