Keep the Cheer Here is the Anacortes Shop Local campaign, to encourage our community to support local businesses and keep their dollars in town. This is a way for us to thank the local community for supporting our businesses throughout the year!

Pick up a punch card by shopping at participating stores between November 23rd and December 31st and you will be entered to win our weekly and grand prize drawings worth over $1,000!

Nutcracker Holiday Gift Show (Free!)Anacortes Coastal Christmas Ornament
The Anacortes Nutcracker Holiday gift show has beautiful holiday gift items, decorations and crafts, handmade by talented artists and crafters from throughout Skagit County. This unique show will offer many treasures for those special gifts. Come find unique gifts for those special people in your life! A fabulous event and it is FREE!! Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

9th Annual Anacortes Farmers Market Holiday Event (Free!)
Each year, the weekend before Thanksgiving we host this special two-day indoor event at the Port of Anacortes. Our regular season has ended and this is a fabulous opportunity to get your holiday produce, stock up on your favorite vendors’ goods and find that perfect handmade holiday gift. It’s also a great time to check out the cool Port building, have a bite to eat and visit with market friends and win a door prize! Free admittance!
Location: 100 Commercial Avenue at the Port Event Center

December 4th
Annual Chamber Tree Lighting (Free!)Anacortes Coastal Christmas Ornament
Downtown comes alive with the festival spirit the weekend of December 4th with the annual Anacortes Chamber of Commerce’s Community Tree Lighting ceremony. The event features the town crier, Santa Claus and performances by students from Anacortes schools. Hot cocoa and cookies will be provided by the Salvation Army. Attendees can also get a free picture with Santa.

December 4th
Chamber Holiday Art Walk (Free!)
Following the tree lighting, the public is invited to explore the downtown holiday art-walk to find locally crafted gifts. They can also vote for their favorite downtown holiday window display and listen to local choirs caroling on the street corners to raise funds for local charities in town. Restaurants will be open to grab a hot meal.

December 4th & 5th
Resurrection Derby ($400 per team)
Ticket sales end December 2nd. The Resurrection Derby was established in 2010 to honor the heavyweight tournaments of the past. Drawing anglers from Oregon to Canada and beyond, this event has become the “best of the best” salmon derby in the Pacific Northwest. All proceeds from the event go directly towards Puget Sound salmon enhancement. Promoting good sportsmanship, environmental awareness, economic benefits of recreational angling and providing for future generations is our mission.

Enter a winter wonderland at the Port Transit Event Center with activities for the whole family. This annual event held by the Anacortes Schools Foundation features photos with Santa, hot chocolate & cookies, crafts & games, unique gifts, and gift wrapping. All proceeds benefit students in the Anacortes School District. More information is available at anacortesschoolfoundation.org. On Saturday, stop by after the parade for the following live entertainment

Saint Nicholas Feast Day with the Croatian Cultural Center
• 10:30am – Feast of Saint Nicholas Mass at Saint Mary Church. Entrance procession with icon of St. Nicholas by the members of the Croatian community
• 11:45am – End of Mass; car procession with Saint Nicholas icon to the Seafarers Memorial Park.
• Noon – Assemble at Seafarers Memorial Park for placement of icon and the laying of wreath and roses at Our Lady of the Sea.
• Eternal Father – Navy Hymn sung by the An-O-Chords.
• Blessing of Mariners and fleet by Fr. Marion, OSB, pastor of St. Mary.
• 12:30pm – Return icon to Croatian Cultural Center located at 801 5th St. in Anacortes WA. Children to meet with St. Nicholas and be gifted with tangerines and chocolate gold coins. Listen to the story of St. Nicholas as narrated by Michael Petrish, and then enjoy a no-host luncheon of Croatian food and seasonal pastries.

Winter Wonderland Walk at Washington Park (Free!)
Come out to Washington Park and enjoy a nice walk through the Wonderland Walk At Washington Park event. Local service groups, clubs, businesses and families sign up to decorate campsites with festive lights and holiday cheer. This is a FREE community event and we encourage you to come on out to this popular event. We recommend that you bring your own flashlight or headlamp to help guide your way

Fidalgo DanceWorks presents The Nutcracker Ballet ($12-$17)Anacortes Coastal Christmas Ornament
The annual tradition of our breathtaking Nutcracker will perform December 12 and 13 at Brodniak Hall. Rehearsals are underway with an incredibly talented cast. Tickets will be available starting the end of November.

Celebrate the Season – Dream It Dinner and Auction ($45, Reservations Required)
Enter a winter wonderland at the Port Transit Event Center. The Dream It Dinner and Auction supports STEM enrichment programs throughout the Anacortes School District. Join us for a fun evening featuring dinner catered by Gere-a-Deli, a lively auction with many fantastic items generously donated by local community members and businesses, and entertainment and dancing. Help us bring the very best educational opportunities to all of our students. All proceeds benefit students in the Anacortes School District. Doors open at 5:30 PM, reservations recommended

Celtic Christmas Celebration
The Port of Anacortes presents the 5th Annual Celtic Christmas Celebration sponsored by Shell Puget Sound Refinery. Featuring Geoffrey Castle and his All Star Band. With special guests Irish Tenor Connor Dunworley, Seattle Irish Dance Company, Special Vocal Guests, plus Town Crier Richard Riddell and a visit from Santa Claus.

Deck the Docks at Cap Sante MarinaAnacortes Coastal Christmas Ornament
Join us for a weekend of festive fun – deck your boat out in bright lights and decorations! Get free moorage at C Dock when you decorate your boat. There will also be a Cocoa Crawl & public viewing of lit boats on Saturday the 19th from 4-730pm. Call the Marina to reserve your spot at 360-293-0694.

Jingle Bell Dash 5k Run/Walk & Kids Dash to Santa
Join AAUW-Anacortes for the Jingle Bell Dash 5k Run/Walk and Kids Dash to Santa, and help raise money for AAUW STEM programs for girls in our community. Additionally, the Kids Dash to Santa will raise non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army food bank in Anacortes. Click here to learn more online.

Fidalgo Danceworks: Winter Celebration
We will celebrate the season of winter with a wonderful production of Winter Celebration featuring our contemporary dance styles. The show will perform December 19th and feature jazz, tap, modern, swing and musical theater. This will be a show that should not be missed!


 Anacortes Community Theatre presents “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”

Adapted from the wonderful C.S. Lewis story we follow the exploits of four children who are sent to live with their uncle during World War I. Lucy finds a magical wardrobe that takes her into a mysterious land called Narnia. The others follow her into Narnia which is under a spell of winter cast by the White Witch. She knows a prophecy about the children and holds young Edward captive. The children find a number of forest friends in Narnia, including a large lion named Aslan. Together they will fight the White Witch to to release her spell and free Edward. This extraordinary family performance is directed by ACT favorite, Julie Wenzel.
